Problem
Managers currently don’t have a central place to track and manage the day-to-day and time-sensitive tasks for their team. They have to track real-time information and perform time-sensitive actions across multiple channels.
They need a central place to view, triage, and action on time-sensitive attendance and timesheet related information about their employees, to help them manage their day-to-day operations as efficiently as possible.

Explaining design rationale
At first, I underestimated the importance of framing discussions effectively during meetings with cross-functional partners. Initially, I would present all iterations and ask for general feedback, but I soon realized this approach wasn’t productive. By presenting the pros and cons of each option and leading with my ideal solution, I encouraged more focused discussions, received insightful feedback, and ultimately created better design solutions.
Concept testing as a rapid research method
I learned the value of concept testing and how to gather user insights quickly. I discovered that strategic concept testing at key project milestones could guide the design process efficiently and avoid costly iterations. With limited resources, I also learned to maximize the impact of testing by aligning it with critical points in the project rather than merely checking research off for the sake of it.
How to conduct accessibility audits
I learned how to create designs that were more accessible for more users, checking things like colour contrast, keyboard navigation, accessible name, reading order, and landmarks. Conducting these audits at various points during the design process helped me create a more impactful and usable design for all.
